Official statistical activity:

In order to fulfill its duties regarding the coordination of the international development policy of the Hungarian Government and tasks arise from our membership in the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Department for Hungary Helps Program Coordination (HHP) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade collects and sends data on international development cooperation and international humanitarian assistance provided by Hungarian state institutions as Official Development Assistance (ODA) to the DAC every year. The statistics provide a comprehensive picture of Hungary's international engagement, the actual scale of resources devoted to addressing global challenges and the extent of its contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Using these statistics, each year HHP reports to the Hungarian Government on Hungary's international development cooperation activities in the previous year. Once approved by the Government, the report will be made available on the official HHP website.

Scope of official statistics produced:

Contributions to international organisations and funds (membership fees, core contributions, voluntary contributions, other costs), international development cooperation and international humanitarian assistance projects implemented with Hungarian public funds and expenditure for these purposes (grants, debt relief, debt cancellation, debt restructuring, tied aid lending, concessional lending).

Annual reports are available on the HHP website.

Data collection methodology:

Data collection happens on an annual basis.

Data are provided by ministries, public administrations and municipalities receiving and managing central budget funds, following the HHP’s direct request.

Information calendar:

In the fourth quarter of the year following the reference year.

International relations:

Through the completion of a table developed and sent by the OECD, the MFAT provides data on the amounts spent by Hungary on official international development cooperation and international humanitarian assistance activities in the preceding year.
