Survey of areas under vines

The basic survey of areas under vines, implemented in the summer of 2009 based on Council Regulation (EEC) No 357/79, gives the opportunity of looking back to the beginnings.

One of the first steps was a survey in 1873 on wine-growing areas and viticulture. Two documents that are presented below illustrate the knowledge of our ancestors concerning this subject and the contemporary situation.

In order to evaluate the situation more exactly the statistical office addressed the experts and their associations familiar with this subject and local conditions. The whole domain of viticulture and viniculture were covered by the questions.
