Tasks of the Services Statistics Department

 

1. Areas of expertise of the Services Statistics Department:
1.1. tourism statistics,
1.2. transport and traffic statistics,
1.3. R&D and innovation,
1.4. information, communication and digitalisation statistics,
1.5. statistics on internal trade and food service activities.
2. Tasks of the Services Statistics Department according to the statistical data production process:
2.1. professional planning and preparation of tourism statistics surveys of the HCSO, carrying out the related data collection activities, processing, quality control, improvement and database management of the collected data, as well as receiving, processing, quality control, improvement and database management of data from the data surveys of other bodies of the Official Statistical Service, administrative data sources and other secondary data sources;
2.2. professional planning and preparation of transport statistics surveys of the HCSO, carrying out the related data collection activities, processing, quality control, improvement and database organisation of the collected data, as well as receiving, processing, quality control, improvement and database organisation of data from data surveys of other bodies of the Official Statistical Service and from administrative data sources and other secondary data sources;
2.3. professional planning and preparation of the HCSO data surveys on research, development and innovation, carrying out the related data collection activities, processing, quality control, improvement and database management of the collected data, as well as the reception, processing, quality control, improvement and database organisation of data from the data surveys of other bodies of the Official Statistical Service and from administrative data sources and other secondary data sources;
2.4. professional planning and preparation of the information, communication and digitalisation statistics data surveys of the HCSO, carrying out the related data collection activities, processing, quality control, correction and database management of the collected data, and receiving, processing, quality control, improvement and database management of data from other data surveys of the Official Statistical Service, administrative data sources and other secondary data sources;
2.5. professional planning and preparation of the HCSO data surveys in the field of internal trade and food service activities, carrying out the related data collection activities, processing, quality control, correction and database management of the collected data, as well as the reception, processing, quality control, correction and database organisation of data from other bodies of the Official Statistical Service, administrative data sources and other secondary data sources;
2.6. validating of the data collected and received at sector level;
2.7. participating in the development of electronic data collection techniques, the development, elaboration and quality control of the adoption of new data sources;
2.8. documenting and developing the methodology of the specialised areas falling within the remit of the department;
2.9. coordinating the comprehensive tasks related to sectoral statistics within the remit of the department;
2.10. producing data compilations, analyses and first releases on the subject matter statistics within the remit of the department;
2.11. contributing to the compilation of HCSO publications relating to multiple statistical areas;
2.12. national and international dissemination and data transmission as well as ensuring access to data;
2.13. updating the content of the registers belonging to the department, planning the data surveys necessary for the maintenance of the registers.
