The "Society" volume of the National Atlas of Hungary wins a prize in Florence!
We are pleased to announce that the "Society" volume of the National Atlas of Hungary (MNA) won first prize in the Atlas category of the International Cartographic Association's conference in Florence on 18 December, voted by the professional audience. As a strategic partner in the Atlas, the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) has been part of this great scientific enterprise! Thank you for this opportunity!
Congratulations to all those involved in the project for this excellent result and international recognition!
The MNA beat 31 publications in its category, including publications from countries such as Austria, China, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Poland, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.
The aim of the creators of the MNA was to produce a new national atlas, which was initiated in the 2010s - as in 1983 - by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, coordinated by the CSFK Institute of Geography, currently part of the Eötvös Loránd Research Network (ELKH), and with the collaboration of the ELTE Institute of Cartography and Geoinformatics. From 2018, KSH is also participating in the project as a strategic partner.
