Downloading HCSO publications is free of charge from 2025

The payment system is replaced by a free of charge service, available for everyone

In order to better fulfil user demands the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO) is offering all new own publications for free download on its website from 2025. Publications that previously were printed or available on e-shelf (yearbooks) are going to be accessible on a new, user friendly platform, offering free of charge download, no registration will be required.

The HCSO e-shelf system started more than ten years ago, in August 2013, replacing the previous CD-ROM based publications and annexes. More than 200 online publications and annexes, mainly yearbooks and other data collections have been produced in this format. Starting in 2025 the new publications and their annexes are going to be downloadable free of charge, making them available to the general public. E-shelf content is going to be phased out, with no more upload in the future. Previously purchased e-shelf items are going to be available for users until the end of 2026. Registered users are going to receive in the first quarter a direct notification about the changes.

The aim of the HCSO is to make all previously published titles within the e-shelf system accessible free of charge for users; as such a new sub-page is going to be added in parallel with the e-shelf phasing out. Browsing among the several hundred publications is going to be supported by an online app.
