Scientific citation of the HCSO periodicals in leading position

Among the scientific journals of the Hungarian Central Statistical Office the Területi Statisztika periodical is on the 1st place, its Regional Statistics journal on the 2nd one, Statisztikai Szemle finished on the 51th place, the Demográfia journal was the 85th according the Hungarian Academy of Science (MTA) social sciences covering IX. Economics and Legal Sciences Department citation index in social sciences.

The professional periodicals of the HCSO occupy eminent positions according to the ranking of the MTA’s social sciences covering IX. Economics and Legal Sciences Department, regarding the number of specific independent citations and the calculated h-index (index number showing both efficiency and citation)

The Területi Statisztika periodical is on the 1st place, the Regional Statistics on the 2nd one in 2024; both journals were continuously among the first five in the last five years, too. The Statisztikai Szemle finished on the 51th place, the Demográfia journal – ranking 13 places higher compared to the previous year – was the 85th.

Péter Sasvári, associate professor at the National University of Public Service considered all in all 363 journals in the ranking. The first 100 places on the list are regarded as decidedly good results.

Területi Statisztika

It is a peer-reviewed scientific periodical, published six times a year. Contains studies, research and conference coverages, book reviews, as well as treatises reflecting on previous articles. The goal of the journal is to promote exchange of ideas, debates between researchers regarding analyses in regional research topics.

Regional Statistics

Peer-reviewed scientific periodical published bimestrial in English. The goal of the journal is the promotion of exchange of ideas, debates between researchers in regional research topics.

Statisztikai Szemle

Scientific periodical published monthly, analyses and reviews processes in Hungary regarding population, economic, cultural and social life, based on comprehensive data of the HCSO and other institutions. Presents up to date statistical testing methods, deals with the Hungarian and international statistical history, reviews the operation of the Hungarian statistical organisation, covers statistical achievements from foreign countries.

Demográfia

It is one of the oldest demographic scientific periodicals of Hungary, achieving the highest scientific standards. Published four times a year, contains, beside demography in the narrowest sense, articles on sociology, social politics, social history, economics, medicine, ethnography, geography, law that deal with demographical aspects from the given field. Demográfia is the only Hungarian scientific periodical in social sciences that publishes primarily demography related papers.
