Focus on increasing statistical literacy of users
The HCSO STAT Academy Public Adm.+ programme series was a great success
The series of programmes, entitled HCSO STAT Academy Public Adm.+, which took place from 16 September to 3 October 2024, offered a total of 20 different lectures to government and public administration staff free of charge. As last year, there was a high level of interest - 247 people registered for the lectures - and a particularly high number of new participants.
The Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO) attaches great importance to promoting the data and statistical literacy of its users in order to make the best use of its data and products. In particular, it is important that those who use the HCSO data for their work on a daily basis also have adequate knowledge of the data. To this end, the Office organised for the second time the HCSO STAT Academy Public Adm.+ series of lectures for government and public administration staff. The results of the satisfaction survey carried out after last year's course have greatly influenced the design of this year's programme: a priority objective was to provide in-depth professional knowledge and knowledge sharing on various statistical topics such as data access, data protection, tourism statistics, social statistics, retail statistics, inflation, labour market, etc.
During the programme, a total of 20 presentations were given by experts from the HCSO, which were attended by 247 listeners. Most of the participants came from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Finance, but all major governmental and public administration bodies were represented. The HCSO is confident that the knowledge gained through the lecture series will be put to good use in the work of the participants.
