Strategic agreement between the Hungarian Central Statistical Office and the Dennis Gabor University, 24/04/2025

Utilising the possibilities offered by artificial intelligence

The Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO), the Dennis Gabor University (DGU) and the Dennis Gabor University Artificial Intelligence Knowledge Centre (DGU-MIT) signed a cooperation agreement. This partnership aims to strengthen knowledge share, innovation and the role of artificial intelligence in statistical analysis.

The Hungarian Central Statistical Office is further enlarging its sphere of cooperation. The cooperation agreement signed in a festive setting by the Dennis Gabor University, the Dennis Gabor University Artificial Intelligence Knowledge Centre and the Hungarian Central Statistical Office on 24 April 2025 aims to strengthen educational, research and innovation based cooperation between the institutions, knowledge transfer and comprehensive utilisation of artificial intelligence in statistics. The agreement was signed by Dr Ferenc Dietz, President of DGU, Dávid Csurgó, manager of DGU-MIT and Dr Áron Kincses, President of the HCSO.

The parties are developing within the cooperation framework a common research, innovation program, prepare e-newsletters and participate in workshops and professional events. HCSO specialists contribute through lectures, tutorials and thesis supervising to the educational process of the university, besides, the Office offers internship opportunities.

The partnership is making scientific and practical knowledge-share possible, supporting the development of statistical data processing and analysis, smooth big data management and its fast evaluation. Widespread utilisation of artificial intelligence makes the employment of new data sources possible, as well as efficiency improvement and cost reduction. Machine learning offers tools for modelling tasks and for revealing deeper connections, too.

A close professional connection with higher education institutions is a high priority of the Hungarian Central Statistical Office, in order to achieve common goals and aspirations, to utilise synergies, to improve scientific communication, as well as for promoting joint research and publication programs.

It is the goal of the Dennis Gabor University to be one of the national economy’s growth engines in the field of digitalisation, beside tertiary – primarily IT – education. Seeing the overall, ever increasing advance of the prioritized research fields of the institution, such as artificial intelligence, drone technology, the University considers its social responsibility to help in rising awareness of the general public and the enterprises, in their widespread, creative utilisation of AI. Considers its duty to offer factual information to everyone about AI, considered by some as a dangerous unknown, to present its possibilities in everyone’s life, in efficiency improvement and the real risks it may carry. This is why the Dennis Gabor University created in 2025 its Artificial Intelligence Knowledge Centre, in order to assist society, enterprises, administration in better using the benefits offered by AI through AI research, app developments and knowledge sharing. Cooperation with the HCSO creates the opportunity for continuing – and sharing with the Office – its own research based on the knowledge and data asset of the most predominant actor in data economy.
