The role of artificial intelligence in data-driven decision-making – Government Commissioner consultation at the HCSO, 19/03/2025
The Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO) hosted Dr. László Palkovics, Government Commissioner for Artificial Intelligence, who was received by Dr. Áron Kincses, President of HCSO, and Vince Kruchina, CEO of the National Data Asset Management Agency (NAVÜ). The purpose of the meeting was to review the concept of artificial intelligence (AI) of the HCSO and the NAVÜ and to examine the possibilities of applying AI in evidence-based public administration decision-making.
Dr. Áron Kincses, President of the HCSO, had a meeting with Dr. László Palkovics, Government Commissioner for Artificial Intelligence, at the Hungarian Central Statistical Office on 18 March 2025. The meeting focused on the Hungarian AI strategy and the AI concept of the HCSO and the NAVÜ in the context of the European Union's Regulation 2024/1689 (AI Act) and its harmonisation in Hungary.
Modern data management and analysis solutions are essential for evidence-based, efficient and informed decision-making. As the largest data asset manager in Hungary, HCSO is committed to the wide use of the latest technological solutions and the opportunities offered by digitalisation to ensure reliable statistical data. The use of AI and machine learning is revolutionising the way we analyse statistical data, make forecasts and support policy-making, by enabling faster and more accurate processing of huge data sets, even of different types, so that stakeholders can base their decisions on more timely information.
The participants agreed that there is a need for comprehensive national coordination in the development of AI-based solutions and data analytics to make the most efficient use of the available data assets and thus to enable Hungary to make the most of the opportunities offered by new technologies.
