József Bálint, economist, statistician, former President of the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO), has died, 10/05/2024

József Bálint, economist, statistician and former President of the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO), passed away on 2 May 2024, in the 95th year of his life.

József Bálint was born on 15 January 1930. He was President of the HCSO from 1973 to 1979. In addition to raising primarily methodological and management problems, he dealt with the relationship between economics and politics, the organisation and implementation of investments, and the theoretical and practical issues raised by social stratification.
