Press release - Balance and debt of general government sector - second EDP notification of 2012 - 24th October 2012
The general government sector had a surplus of HUF 1 212 billion in 2011, 4.3% of GDP according to the preliminary data of national accounts. The government data were calculated on the legal grounds of the Excessive Deficit Procedure (EDP) in the methodological framework of the European System of Accounts (ESA95) and were reported to Eurostat.
According to the figures of the National Bank of Hungary, general government debt amounted to HUF 22 690 billion, 81.4% of GDP at the end of 2011.
Data for 2008-2010 are the same as published on 28 th of September, net lending of general government for 2011 is decreased by 1 billion HUF as consequence of clarification with Eurostat, planned data for 2012 were revised by the Ministry of National Economy.
