Agricultural census - FSS 2020
The 2020 Agricultural Census was carried out by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO). The aim of the census was to follow up the structural changes in agriculture and to provide accurate and reliable data for national decision-makers, the EU and farmers.

HCSO developed an interactive dashboard as a part of the publication of results of Agricultural Census 2020 to enable complex analysis of collected data.
Data correction was made on 7 December 2022. After data correction the data include non-classified holdings too, therefore the aggregates are the same as in other publications.

The threshold was changed in the 2020 Census. In order to ensure comparability of the data collected in 2020, the HCSO has recalculated the data of the 2010 Agricultural Census and the 2013 and 2016 Farm Structural Surveys with the new threshold. The 2020 data are published with the new threshold.

What is farm threshold?
Farm threshold is a threshold defined for certain indicators, and when reaching it, private holders have to fill in a questionnaire. At the beginning of the questionnaire it is checked with simple questions (e.g. size of productive area and of livestock, if any agricultural service is provided) whether the size of the holding exceeds a threshold. If this is the case, the whole questionnaire is to be completed, if not, the interview is ended.
