Volume change in industrial production in the Member States of the European Union, February 2025

Industrial production volume, based on calendar adjusted data, increased by 0.6% in February 2025 in the member states of the European Union, year-on-year. Industrial output was higher in about half of the member states compared to a year earlier, the highest growth being registered in Ireland (38.8%).
Industrial production volume, based on calendar adjusted data was 8.0% lower in Hungary in February 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year.1 Considering the Visegrad countries’ group, industrial production increased by 1.6% in Czechia, by 1.2% in Poland, and lessened by 1.4% in Slovakia.
Industrial output decreased by 1.3% in Hungary compared to the previous month, while grew in the EU as a whole by 1.0%. Our country is in the mid-third among the member states with decreasing industrial output.
The volume of industrial production in Hungary, according to unadjusted data, lagged behind the one year earlier level by 8.7% in February 2025. Production volume fell in all manufacturing subsections, in the largest degree, by 24%, in the manufacture of electrical equipment. Output in the largest weigh representing manufacture of transport equipment was 10.4% lower year-on-year. Among the larges weight carrying subsections the performance of food industry lessened by 5.8%, that of the electronics industry fell least of all, by 0.6%. Volume decreases between 2.5% – 15.8% occurred in the other subsections.
According to the prognosis of Trading Economics Hungary’s industrial production will increase in the 2nd–4th quarters of 2025, quarterly by 2.8%–3.8%, year-on-year.
