Motor fuel price statistics, October 2025

Based on data in the Weekly Oil Bulletin, published by the EU, the average price of 95-octane petrol was 574 forints in Hungary in the month of October, which was 4 forints or 0.7% lower than the average of 578 forints for neighbouring countries. In countries in the region, the average price in October equalled 558 forints, the price in Hungary becoming 2.9% or 16 forints higher. Compared to the figure for the previous month, the average price of 95 petrol decreased by 11 forints in Hungary. In parallel, the averages observed for neighbouring countries and for countries in the region lessened, too, by 9 and 8 forints, respectively.
The monthly average price of diesel motor fuel was 581 forints in Hungary, which was 5 forints or 0.9% lower than the average of 586 forints for neighbouring countries. The average domestic price of diesel motor fuel was 19 forints or 3.4% higher than the regional average price of 562 forints. Compared to the figure for the previous month, the monthly average diesel oil price in Hungary lessened by 7 forints. The average decreased by 5 forints in neighbouring countries and by 4 forints in countries in the region compared to September data.
Out of the countries in the region, the average price of petrol in October was higher in Austria, Serbia and Slovakia than in Hungary. Compared to the figure for the previous month, the average price went down the most, by 18 forints in Bulgaria.
The average price of 95-octane petrol was less than 5% lower in Czechia, Croatia, Romania and Slovenia, 5.7% lower in Poland and more than 15% lower in Bulgaria than in Hungary.

The average price of diesel oil in October was higher in Austria, Romania and Serbia than the value in Hungary, however, it was over 15% lower in Bulgaria. Compared to the figure for the previous month, the average price of diesel lessened in all countries in the region, except Poland, and the largest reduction of 12 forints was recorded in Romania.
