Motor fuel price statistics, March 2025

Based on data in the Weekly Oil Bulletin, published by the EU, the average price of 95-octane petrol was 601 forints in Hungary in the month of March, which was 6 forints or 1.0% lower than the average of 607 forints for neighbouring countries. In countries in the region, the average price in March was 589 forints, the price in Hungary being 2.0% or 12 forints higher. Compared to the figure for the previous month, the average price of 95 petrol was cut by 24 forints in Hungary. In parallel, the averages observed for neighbouring countries and for countries in the region lessened, too, by 24 and 21 forints, respectively.
The monthly average price of diesel motor fuel was 618 forints in Hungary, which was 6 forints or 1.0% lower than the average of 624 forints for neighbouring countries. The average domestic price of diesel motor fuel was 18 forints or 3.0% higher than the regional average price of 600 forints. Compared to the figure for the previous month, the monthly average diesel oil price in Hungary lessened by 23 forints. The average observed for neighbouring countries decreased by 23 forints and that observed for countries in the region by 22 forints compared to February data.
Out of the countries in the region, the average price of petrol in March was higher in Austria, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia and Slovakia than in Hungary. Compared to the figure for the previous month, it went down the most, by 29 forints in Slovakia.
The average price of 95-octane petrol was less than 5% lower in Poland and Romania, 6.5% lower in Czechia and more than 10% lower in Bulgaria than in Hungary.
The average price of diesel oil in March was higher in Serbia and Slovenia than the value in Hungary, however, it was over 15% lower in Bulgaria. Compared to the figure for the previous month, the average price of diesel decreased in all countries in the region, and the largest reduction of 28 forints was recorded for Austria.
