Motor fuel price statistics, July 2024

Based on the data of the EU’s Weekly Oil Bulletin, the average price of 95-octane petrol in Hungary was 612 forints in July, which was 8 forints or 1.3% higher than the regional average price of 604 forints. In neighbouring countries, the average price was 620 forints in July, the price in Hungary being 1.3% or 8 forints lower. The average price of 95 petrol increased by 13 forints in Hungary compared to the figure for the previous month. In parallel, the regional average increased, too, by 7 forints. In neighbouring countries, the average price of petrol went up by 12 forints.
The monthly average price of diesel motor fuel was 621 forints in Hungary, which was 18 forints or 3.0% higher than the regional average price of 603 forints. In neighbouring countries, the average price of diesel was 624 forints in July, and the figure for Hungary was 0.5% or 3 forints lower than this. The average price of 95 petrol increased by 10 forints in Hungary compared to the figure for the previous month. The regional average price increased by 9 forints, and the price observed for neighbouring countries by 15 forints compared to the June data.
In July, compared to Hungary, the average price of petrol was higher in Austria, Croatia, Serbia and Slovakia out of the countries in the region according to the latest data. Compared to the figures for the previous month, the price of petrol went down the most, by 9 forints in Czechia.
The average price of 95-octane petrol was less than 5% lower in Czechia, Poland, Romania and Slovenia, and more than 10% lower in Bulgaria than in Hungary.
The monthly average price of diesel oil in July was higher in Austria, Croatia and Serbia than the value in Hungary, however, it was over 15% lower in Bulgaria. Compared to the previous month, the average price of diesel increased in all countries in the region except Bulgaria and Czechia. The largest growth of 36 forints was recorded for Romania.
