Motor fuel price statistics
Based on the latest data of the EU’s Weekly Oil Bulletin, the average price of 95 octane petrol was 648 forints in Hungary and 623 forints in countries in the region. The average price in Hungary was 4.0% or 25 forints higher than the average value in the region. In neighbouring countries, the average price was 638 forints, the price in Hungary being 1.6% or 10 forints higher than this. The weekly average price of diesel motor fuel was 649 forints in Hungary, which was 27 forints or 4.3% higher than the regional average price of 622 forints. In neighbouring countries, the average price of diesel was 638 forints, which the figure for Hungary surpassed by 1.7% or 11 forints.
The average price of 95 petrol in Hungary increased by 8 forints compared to the figure for the previous week. In parallel, the regional average rose as well, by 3 forints. In neighbouring countries, the average price of petrol also went up by 3 forints.
The average price of diesel oil in Hungary was cut by 5 forints over a week. The regional average price decreased, too, though to a lower extent, by 1 forint. In neighbouring countries, the average price of diesel stagnated compared to the previous week.
Compared to Hungary, the average price of petrol was slightly higher in Austria, Serbia and Slovakia out of the countries in the region according to the latest data. The price of petrol went up the most in Serbia and Czechia, by 11 and 7 forints, respectively. By contrast, the average price was reduced by 5 forints in Poland compared to data for the previous week.
The average price of 95 octane petrol was less than 10% lower in Czechia, Croatia, Poland, Romania and Slovenia and more than 10% lower in Bulgaria than the price in Hungary.
In the case of diesel oil, the weekly average prices in Austria and Serbia were higher than the value in Hungary, however, the average price was over 10% lower in Bulgaria compared to the average price of diesel motor fuel in Hungary. The price of diesel increased in Slovenia and Czechia, by 2 and 1 forint, respectively, while it was lowered in the rest of the countries in the region compared to the previous week. The second largest decrease to Hungary was experienced by consumers in Poland, where the price of diesel motor fuel went down by 4 forints.
