In March 2025, rents of dwellings to let decreased by 0.1% nationally and increased by 0.7% in Budapest compared to the previous month. March rents were 7.6% higher nationally and 6.7% higher in Budapest than in the same period of the previous year, and 116% and 107% higher than in the base period of 2015, respectively. The real rent index was 27% higher nationally and 21% higher in Budapest than the 2015 base year, the level of real rents changed in line with nominal rents compared with the previous month, as consumer prices stagnated.

In Budapest, with the exception of the transitional districts on the Pest side (-0.2%), rents rose more significantly in March. In the inner districts of Pest, rents rose by 1.1% in a month, and the same increase was recorded in the Buda hill districts. In the other districts of Buda and the outer districts of Pest, rents rose by 0.7% and 0.8% respectively. Over a year, rents rose by between 5% and 11% in the Budapest district groups, with a higher increase on the Pest side.

In March 2025, the vast majority (93%) of the advertisements observed concerned flats in multi-dwelling buildings, with the remaining approximately 7% for detached houses. In Budapest, only 2.8% of the dwellings for rent were detached houses. In March 2025, 45% of the advertisements taken into account nationally and 42% in the capital came from private individuals.
