2.7. Culture

Publications: prepared by printing or other means of reproduction, that can be books (min. 49 pages and included in the Hungarian National Bibliography) booklets (4–48 pages), which are non-periodical printed publications, made available to the public. In statistical terms, – a book of more volumes is considered as one publication. Re-prints of a book are considered as different publications.
Classification of books and booklets by subject is carried out according to the Universal Decimal Classification (UDC) containing 10 main and more than 200 sub-groups.

Number of copies: number of copies of printed publications.

Literature: Including poetry, anthologies, novels, short stories, plays, programme booklets (film scenario etc.) and other literary works (literary stories, bibliographical novels).

Juvenile and children's literature: Including published works for children less than 6 years of age (toy books, painting-book, story books etc.) children between 6 and 14 years and for juveniles over 14 years of age (literature and educational literature).

Scientific literature: Scientific literature is the comprehensive name for those books and booklets, in which the new results of one of the disciplines are announced, or certain knowledge is dealt with in a scientific systematic manner. The scientific literature is appeals to a narrow public; highly qualified persons with special interests.

Educational literature: Educational literature is the comprehensive name for those books and booklets, in which scientific knowledge is revealed to the reader in a popular form, they are works dealing with scientific professional knowledge, which are clear for everybody to understand.

Special literature: Special literature is the comprehensive name for those books and booklets, in which are published in a clear form for beginners; or which secondary on higher level deal with professional topics.

Schoolbook, textbook: Schoolbook, textbook is the comprehensive name for those books and booklets containing information about one special subject intended to be used at school or other educational institutions.

Public library: a library of general collection and public interest, providing service for the general public (for readers) to meet cultural, informational and recreational needs of the population.

Library stock (unit): all library materials provided for users, books, journals, periodicals, microfilms, audio-visual documents and other publications.

Registered users: any person registered in the library in order to use materials of its collection on or off the premises.

Visitors of theatre: any person who participate on performances of theatres.

Cinema-goers: any person who participate on performances of cinemas.

Visitors of concert: any person who participate on performances of concerts.

Visitors of museums: any person who participate on exhibitions.

Cultural institutes: the population's community cultural activity onto this aim founded, maintained, run, suitable vocational one, personal, budgetary organ at which infrastructural conditions and charter are institution with other maintenance.
