Industrial producer prices lessen by 0.2% in May 2024 compared to a year earlier and increase by 0.2% compared to the previous month

Industrial producer prices were 0.2% lower on average in May 2024 compared to one year earlier. Domestic output prices decreased by 3.9%, non-domestic output prices were up by 1.7%. Compared to the previous month, domestic output prices were down by 0.9%, non-domestic output prices increased by 0.7%, as such industrial producer prices, on the whole, were 0.2% higher.

In May 2024 compared to May 2023:

Domestic output prices decreased by 3.9% on average, within it output prices went up by 0.8% in manufacturing representing a weight of 60.0%, and dropped by 13.0% in the 38.6% weight representing energy industry (electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply). Food industry output prices were 5.1% lower.

Prices in Hungary fell by 6.1% in the energy and intermediate producer branches together, rose by 5.8% in capital goods producer ones, and lessened by 1.1% in consumer goods producer branches out of the end-use groups of the producer branches of industry.

Industrial non-domestic output prices were 1.7% higher, within it, prices were up by 4.5% in the 82.9% weight representing manufacturing, and decreased by 15.9% in the energy industry, with a weight of 16.7%.

In January–May 2024 compared to January–May 2023:

Domestic output prices lessened by 5.5%, non-domestic output ones fell by 2.1%, as such industrial producer prices on the whole were 3.2% lower.
