According to preliminary data, 6,703 children were born and 10,009 people died in August 2024. The number of births lessened by 13%, while the number of deaths increased by 1.2% and that of marriages by 1.9% compared to August 2023.
In August 2024:
A total of 6,703 children were born, 13% or 1,020 fewer than in August 2023.
10,009 people lost their lives, 1.2% or 123 more than a year earlier.
The natural decrease was 3,306, as opposed to 2,163 in August 2023.
6,710 couples got married, which was 1.9% or 128 more than a year earlier.
In January–August 2024:
51,463 children were born, 6,017 or 10% less than in January–August 2023. Within this, the number of live births was 9.1% lower in January–March, 3.3% lower in April and 13% lower in May–August than in the same periods of 2023.
The total fertility rate was estimated at 1.37 per female, which was 1.52 a year earlier.
There were 83,400 deaths, 1.4% less or 1,166 fewer than one year earlier. Within this, 1.1% more people died in January–February, 5.1% more in July–August, while 5.7% less people deceased in March–June than in the corresponding periods of the previous year.
Due to the balance of births and deaths, the natural decrease was 31,937 people, which was 18% more than the value of 27,086 for January–August 2023.
32,776 couples got married, 1.2% or 383 less than a year earlier. Within this, 27% more marriages were registered in January–February, 3.2% more in April–May and 1.9% more in August, but 1.9% less in March and 14% less in June–July than in the corresponding periods of 2023.
There were 8.1 live births and 13.1 deaths per thousand population. The rate of live births was 0.9 per mille points and that of deaths 0.2 per mille points lower than in January–August 2023. The rate of natural decrease increased by 0.8 per mille points to 5.0 per mille. The number of infant deaths was 4.0 per thousand live births, which was 1.0 per mille points more compared to the same period of the previous year. The marriage rate was 5.1 per mille, 0.1 per mille points lower than a year earlier.
