Consumer prices 5.6% higher on average than in same month of previous year

Consumer prices were 5.6% higher on average in February 2025 than a year earlier. Over one month, consumer prices rose by 0.8% on average, within which food became 1.2% more expensive.

In 12 months, compared to February 2024:

A price increase of 7.1% was recorded for food, within which 44.3% for flour, 27.5% for edible oil, 24.7% for eggs, 22.5% for milk, 19.2% for butter, 16.1% for coffee, 14.5% for fruit and vegetable juices, 13.8% for chocolate and cocoa and 10.9% for milk products. Within the product group, the price of pasta products lessened by 4.4%. Services became 9.2%, within which postal services 16.8% and telephone and internet services 14.9% more expensive, rents were up by 12.2% and the repair and maintenance of dwellings became 10.4%, the repair and maintenance of vehicles 10.3% and personal care services 9.4% more expensive. Alcoholic beverage and tobacco prices rose by 5.0%, within which the price of tobacco by 4.9%. Consumer durable prices were up by 1.6%, within which jewellery cost 18.9%, new passenger cars 6.6% and living and dining room furniture 2.9% more and second-hand passenger cars 2.9% less for consumers. 0.2% less was to be paid for electricity, gas and other fuels, within which the price of firewood lessened by 4.9% and 10.1% more was to be paid for butane and propane gas, 0.6% more for electricity and 0.1% more for natural and manufactured gas. Motor fuels became 3.8% and pharmaceutical products 3.2% more expensive.

In one month, compared to January 2025:

Consumer prices were up by 0.8% on average. Food became 1.2% more expensive on average, within which edible oil cost 5.4%, coffee 5.2%, margarine 4.4%, seasonal food items (potatoes, fresh vegetables and fresh domestic and tropical fruits in total) 3.8%, bread 3.3%, other meat preparations 2.7%, chocolate and cocoa 2.3%, butter 2.0% and poultry meat 1.9% more for consumers. Within the product group, the price of milk lessened by 2.6% and that of pork by 0.8%. Service prices increased by 1.2% on average, within which personal care services cost 1.6%, the repair and maintenance of vehicles 1.5% and the repair and maintenance of dwellings 1.4% more for consumers. Alcoholic beverage and tobacco prices rose by 1.1%, within which the price of alcoholic beverages by 2.5%. An average 0.2% more was to be paid for electricity, gas and other fuels, within which 1.2% more for butane and propane gas and 0.3% more for natural and manufactured gas (Press release). Motor fuel prices were cut by 0.9%.
