Performance of agriculture (Economic accounts for agriculture, 2020, second estimate) - Methodology

Methodological notes

Data are compiled according to the methodology laid down by Eurostat in 1997. Only the deviations from EAA97 are described below.

According to the EAA manual, animal by-products (slurry and manure) used in crop production are excluded from intra-unit consumption because of the practical difficulties of unavailability of data on quantities and especially prices. As this information on animal by-products is available in Hungary, the corresponding values are included in both output and input.

According to the Eurostat manual, production solely for own consumption (in practice, the production of units which are above the threshold specified for farm structure surveys) is excluded from the output of the agricultural industry. As in the Hungarian case this kind of production has a significant value, it is also included in output.
