In the period of May–July 2019, the average number of unemployed people was 158 thousand, and the unemployment rate was 3.4%. The indicators of women improved, while unemployment stagnated among men.

The number of the unemployed among 15–74 year-old men stagnated at 88 thousand and the unemployment rate was 3.4%. Regarding women, the number of the unemployed declined by 9.5 thousand to 70 thousand, and the unemployment rate by 0.4 percentage point to 3.3%.
Among people aged 15–24, the number of the unemployed was 36 thousand and their unemployment rate grew by 1.0 percentage point to 11.1%. Almost a quarter of the unemployed belonged to this age group. The unemployment rate of the age group 25–54, i.e. persons belonging to the ‘best working age’, decreased by 0.4 percentage point to 2.9%, and that of people aged 55–74 was 2.6%.
The average duration of unemployment was 14.0 months; 37.4% of unemployed people had been searching for a job for one year or more, i.e. were long-term unemployed.

According to the administrative data of the National Employment Service (https://nfsz.munka.hu/), the total number of registered jobseekers decreased by 3.7% to 248 thousand.
