Average gross earnings amounted to HUF 507,500
In April 2022 full-time employees’ gross average earnings were HUF 507,500, average net earnings with tax benefits reached HUF 349,700. Average gross earnings grew by 15.2%, average net earnings with tax benefits were 15.9% higher than a year earlier. Previously scheduled wage increases, the high nonregular payments (including bonuses and premiums ) as well as the growth of the minimum wage and minimum wage for skilled workers contributed in the first place to the increase in average earnings. Regular average gross earnings are estimated to be HUF 457,300, surpassing the previous year’s April data by 14.1%.
April 2022:
Full-time employees’ average gross earnings (as defined by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office) – at corporations employing at least 5 persons, at budgetary institutions and significant non-profit organisations in respect of employment, – amounted to HUF 507,500, excluding fostered workers were HUF 518,500.
Average net earnings were HUF 337,500 excluding tax benefits and HUF 349,700 including them.
Both average gross earnings and average net earnings excluding tax benefits grew by 15.2%. The growth of average net earnings including tax benefits was 15,9%, compared to the same period of the previous year.
Average gross regular earnings (gross earnings without premiums and one-month bonuses) are estimated at HUF 457,300, being 14.1% higher than a year earlier.
Gross median earnings reached HUF 396,800 surpassing by 14.3% the previous year’s value.
Net median earnings including tax benefits were HUF 275,300, 15.8% higher than in April of the previous year.
January–April 2022:
Full-time employees’ average gross earnings (as defined by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office) – at enterprises employing at least 5 persons, at budgetary institutions and at non-profit organisations that are significant in terms of employment – amounted to HUF 508,100, excluding fostered workers to HUF 519,400.
Average net earnings reached HUF 337,900 excluding tax benefits and HUF 349,700 including them.
Both average gross earnings and average net earnings without tax benefits went up by 19.4%, average net earnings including tax benefits grew by 20.1% year-on-year. The payment of the “service premium” (the so-called “firearms money”) in February for the army and the law enforcement personnel, corresponding to six-month salary, the planned wage raises in certain government branches, as well as the increase in the minimum wage and the minimum wage for skilled workers explain, in the first place, the outstanding growth.
The highest average gross earnings were recorded in the financial and insurance activities sections (HUF 874,700) and the lowest ones for accommodation and food service activities (HUF 311,200).
Average gross earnings amounted to HUF 559,800 for full-time male employees and to HUF 456,000 for full-time female employees, representing increases of 20,6% for males and 17,6% for females over a year.
Regular average gross earnings (without premiums and one-month bonuses) are estimated at HUF 449,900, being 14.2% higher than a year earlier.
Regular average gross earnings reached HUF 451,500 in the business sector, HUF 435,300 in the budgetary sector, HUF 486,800 in the non-profit sector, representing growths of 12.3%, 14.7% and 34.3%, compared to the previous year. The fact that several educational institutions have been reclassified from the budgetary into the non-profit sector, following a change in their controlling authority in August 2021, contributed to the above average increase in regular average earnings in the non-profit sector, having still a significant base effect in the first semester of the year.
Real earnings rose by 10.0%, along with a 8.5% year-on-year increase in consumer prices.
Gross median earnings were HUF 385,700, surpassing by 14.0% the previous year’s value. Net median earnings including tax benefits were HUF 267,800, 15.2% higher than in the previous year.
