The number of employed persons was 99 thousand more, at 4 million 693 thousand. The number of people working in the domestic primary labour market was up by 87 thousand and that of members of households in Hungary working abroad by 18 thousand, while the number of public workers decreased minimally, by 5 thousand.
Among 15–64-year-olds, 4 million 585 thousand people were classified as employed, and the employment rate for the age group was 74.2%. The number of employed males reached 2 million 428 thousand following a growth of 23 thousand, and their employment rate increased by 1.2 percentage points to 78.7%. For females, employment rose by 65 thousand to 2 million 157 thousand and the employment rate by 2.6 percentage points to 69.8%.

In the young age group (of 15–24-year-olds), the number of employed persons was 265 thousand, and their employment rate decreased by 0.7 percentage point to 26.9%. The employment rate was up by 2.1 percentage points to 88.3% in the ‘prime’ working-age population (aged 25–54 years) and by 3.6 percentage points to 64.9% in the older age group (of 55–64-year-olds).
